ISAAC GRACIE REVERIE

Isaac Gracie has this seemingly other-worldly ability to fill each word, each guitar strum, each moment of silence with potent emotion. For the listener, it might be heard as sadness, regret, longing, passion, or nostalgia, but all we can assume for this Ealing songwriter is the definition of new track title ‘Reverie’, meaning “a state of being pleasantly lost in one's thoughts; a daydream.” It follows on from his self-produced debut Songs From My Bedroom EP, including the careworn breakthrough 'Last Words', and live recording collection Songs In Black And White. Here, Gracie avoids the temptation to stray from his original sound, instead taking total possession over the introverted lyrics, lullaby instrumentation and centralisation of guitar strings, although now joined with grander elements under the guidance of producer Markus Dravs (Arcade Fire, Coldplay). Once again, we’re transfixed; transported through Isaac Gracie’s heart-wrenching tones, we’re entirely lost in reverie. - HT
